Act I

The Party:
It is Christmas Eve at the Stahlbaum house as they prepare their annual holiday party. Clara and Fritz are looking forward to spending the evening with their friends and their favorite Aunt Drosselmeyer. Adventure is always near when Drosselmeyer is around. This year there is a new face accompanying Drosselmeyer. A handsome assistant perhaps? Someone Clara is sure to befriend.

As the party commences, everyone is entertained by Drosselmeyer’s endless magic tricks, life size dolls, and dancing. To Clara’s delight, she is presented with a beautiful Nutcracker doll by her Aunt Drosselmeyer who also introduces Clara to her assistant. With the presentation of the Nutcracker doll and the introduction of the assistant, a small romance ensues. Fritz becomes jealous of all the attention that Clara is receiving and breaks her precious Nutcracker doll. Clara is completely heartbroken, but Aunt Drosselmeyer comes to her rescue. She quickly repairs it and restores order to the party.

As the evening draws to a close, the guests depart and Drosselmeyer, with her assistant, say their goodbyes. The evening grows late into the night and the Stahlbaum family goes to bed. Excited about her new gift and her new friend, our young Clara races into the family room in search of the Nutcracker doll to reminisce and dream over the wonderful evening she has had.

Little does she know this is the start of a magical adventure she is never going to forget.

The Battle:
As Clara falls asleep on the couch, strange things begin to happen. The Rat Empress appears and as the clock strikes midnight, she begins to make her move to capture Clara, but unbeknownst to her, Drosselmeyer stops the Rat Empress in her tracks. In order to protect Clara, Drosselmeyer brings her beloved Nutcracker doll to life and transforms it into the Nutcracker Prince.

A daring battle ensues but the Nutcracker seems to be no match for the Rat Empress. Young Clara grows in courage out of fear of losing her love and the Rat Empress gets bested by the newly brave Clara, but to the demise of her Prince. Clara is shaken to the core at the Nutcracker’s downfall and begs Aunt Drosselmeyer to do something. Without hesitation, Drosselmeyer uses her magic to bring life back to the Nutcracker Prince, thus restoring order once again.

A Winter Wonderland:
Drosselmeyer takes both Clara and the Nutcracker Prince on a journey to an enchanted Winter Wonderland where the borders of dreams and reality blur. The Snow Queen greets the young couple with a beautiful display of a dance accompanied by the Nutcracker Prince. Along with their glistening Snowflakes, the Snow Queen dazzle Clara and the Nutcracker Prince with a frenzy of snow flurries. They are swept away in the moment and dance with the beautiful Snowflakes creating a blizzard that takes them along their magical journey.

Act II

The Angels:
As Clara and The Nutcracker Prince are off on their adventures, Drosselmeyer prepares the final leg of their journey; The Kingdom of the Sweets.

In order for them to arrive and enjoy the splendor of this magical land, Drosselmeyer enlists the help of Angels and Cherubs to lay the pathway to their enchantment ahead. Together Clara and the Nutcracker Prince arrive at their final destination of the Kingdom of the Sweets being greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy’s royal subjects of the land.

Kingdom of the Sweets:
The people of Kingdom of the Sweets are as diverse as a candy shop. Every new character Clara meets goes beyond her fantastical expectations of anything she could have imagined. Clara is immersed in sweetness, illusion, new love and victory all while being entertained by exotic characters like Spanish Chocolates, Chinese Tea, Russian Trepak, Arabian Coffee, French Marzipan, and the Baker and her Macarons. Even the elegant Dew Drop Fairy and her bouquet of Flowers arrive and perform a wonderful Flowers’ Waltz.

In the end, Clara is met by the leaders of the Kingdom of the Sweets; The Sugar Plum Fairy and the Cavalier. The two honor Clara and the Nutcracker Prince by performing an exquisite Pas De Deux.

What an incredible ending to an incredible adventure.

The Epilogue:
Suddenly, Clara hears a familiar voice and sits up and sees the face of her mother and father looking over her. She has been on the sofa dreaming the entire time. Clara’s parents gently get her on her feet, give her a big hug and lead her back to bed.

Once again, Clara forgets her Nutcracker doll. She runs back to the sofa and picks the Nutcracker up from the floor but to her surprise, Drosselmeyer and the Nutcracker Prince are still waiting for her in her dreams!
